Whether you are an expert or a novice if you are interested in golf travel to Phuket and experience for yourself one or more of the following courses. The golf courses are listed in no particular order. By the way, you should note that on all of the following golf courses you must use a caddie, all of whom are female.
Phuket Country ClubEstablished in 1989 and built over a reclaimed tin mine, this was the first golf course opened on the island. There is an 18-hole course, the Old Course, and the 9-hole Country Club Course, each one has its own club house. The course is situated in the middle of the island between Phuket Town and Patong Beach. It is popular with local golfers. Laguna Phuket Golf ClubThis was formerly the Banyan Tree Golf Club and part of the Laguna complex. With the name change came an up-grade and the course is now said to be among Thailand’s Top 10. This 18-hole resort-course, par 71, is not considered demanding. The course has a driving range, putting greens, practice bunkers and chipping areas, and a café. Lessons are available from a pro. The Laguna hotels particularly hope to attract those interested in golf travel by offering special Green fees here. The Laguna hotels: Banyan Tree Phuket, Sheraton Grande Laguna, Dusit Laguna, Laguna Beach Resort Phuket, Blue Canyon Country ClubLess than 10 minutes from Phuket Airport , the club comprises two championship courses, the Canyon Course and the Lakes Course. There is a large club house, indoor and outdoor driving ranges, a pro shop, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa
Situated on the scenic north-east coast around 10 minutes from Phuket Airport and about 30 minutes from Phuket Town, this is a Nicklaus Design championship course. The 27-hole course is set within mangrove forest with some fantastic ocean views. There is a driving range, restaurants, bar lounges, swimming pool, pro shop and spa. Thai Muang Golf Club and Marina PhuketTwo things to set right straightaway. The course is not in Phuket and there is no marina (not yet anyway)!!This 18-hole course is actually on the mainland in Phang Nga Province. To get there you drive (or are driven) across the causeway north, through lush countryside, for around 40 minutes. The Dye Design Inc links-style course is close to an unspoilt beach. There is a putting green and a club house. This course, probably because of its location, tends to be used more by locals than tourists. Loch Palm Golf ClubThis course is also not so well known: situated inland around 7 kms from Phuket Town and about 15 minutes from Patong Beach. This is an 18-hole course, par 72, built around a large (48 acre) lake. Water is probably the greatest challenge here.
