If You Like Views, The Mangosteen Resort and Spa Is For You
When I first heard about The Mangosteen Resort and Spa Phuket, I thought to myself it’ll never work, people want to be right on the beach. But I admit it, I was wrong. It does work and very well at that. You see, there are those who are quite happy lying by a pool instead of on a beach. If you are one of those then read on. This 40-villa resort has views across the southern end of Phuket and over the Andaman Sea to the islands beyond.

The Superior villas have a garden view (although from some you can see the sea too!) and 12 of them have a private Jacuzzi. The Deluxe villas enjoy guaranteed sea views and there is space for an extra bed for a third person.
At the top (literally) are the Royal Villas (pictured) with incredible special-occasion views: the type of view you really only want to share with that special person. The Royal Villas have a private Jacuzzi on the balcony. I can’t help thinking the third bed in these villas is wasted! But useful if you want to treat the whole family.
As usual, the benefits of a secluded location can be outweighed by the disadvantages of an isolated one. You have to choose: will you feel secluded or isolated? That’s especially important during the low season (May – October) when the resort is quieter. The hotel operates a regular shuttle to Nai Harn beach closeby and there is an afternoon shuttle bus to
Phuket Town
(sorry, City) and to Kata, Karon and
Patong
Beaches. At just Baht 100 per person, it does mean that you can get out and about quite easily if you want to. Hajo Von Keller, the European owner of The Mangosteen Resort and Spa, is around pretty much every day taking a keen interest in his guests' satisfaction. If you enjoy a small resort, with fantastic views and personal attention this is worth a look. Check out what other guests have to say about the property at
