For me there are too few Phuket boutique hotels but there are some gems
I would choose one of the Phuket boutique hotels over the luxury every time but my wife and son prefer larger properties.
It has to be said if in-house facilities are important to you, as they are to Sandra and Alex, then of course you do need to look at larger properties. But if a more intimate level of service is the main attraction for you then a boutique hotel is perhaps a better choice. In some cases there might be aspects of a boutique hotel that would ordinarily qualify it for luxury status, but because it is relatively small it cannot possibly have all the facilities required of a deluxe hotel. On the other hand please do not expect that a boutique hotel is necessarily a luxury property. I don’t know if there is an internationally agreed definition of a boutique hotel but my own is ‘a hotel with around 100 rooms or less, a warm caring atmosphere with personalised service and a unique character’. Now that’s hopefully a loose enough definition to tell you about some of my favourite small hotels on the island which, listed from north to south, are:
Andaman White Beach Resort
The Chedi Phuket
Mom Tri’s Boathouse
Mom Tri's Villa Royale
The Mangosteen Resort & Spa
Now I appreciate there are many other hotels on the island that qualify for listing here on this Phuket boutique hotels page but I just haven’t got to them yet. If you know one please tell me more about it and if it gets enough votes, in it will go.
