This was the advice I gave to my clients when I was a tour operator and this is my advice to you now. Clients would often tell me that they wanted seclusion but then had ‘local restaurants within walking distance’ close to the top of their priority list. That isn’t to say you can’t have that (see the boutique Chedi Phuket for example) but sometimes you do have to compromise.
Perhaps I should explain what I mean by luxury hotel. Although there is both an international and, in Thailand, a local star rating system ‘luxury hotel’ can be very subjective. As a general rule of thumb I am classifying all those hotels and resorts that meet at least an international 5 star, deluxe, rating as luxury.
Although in some respects a boutique hotel might be luxurious I have given them their own section. The reason being that for the most part, with 100 rooms or less in size, they would not have the range of facilities required to gain 5 star plus status.
This section here then is purely about Phuket Thailand luxury hotels and resorts in the 5* plus category.
There are many excellent resources on the web for finding facts about Phuket luxury hotels and resorts so here I am just going to give you my personal opinion on the properties with some very basic facts which will hopefully help you narrow down your search. Please
