No Matter Where You Are On Phuket Restaurants And Bars Are In Good Supply.

You will find some great Phuket restaurants and bars within easy reach of your hotel from Phuket Laguna all the way down to Rawai; and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Personally I love Thai food so when I am in Thailand I rarely eat anything else, however the range of cuisine is mouthwateringly wide from local Thai food to Chinese, French, Indian, Italian, Japanese and more.

Of course the Thai food in the local restaurants is usually adjusted for foreigners but with such a wide choice of Phuket restaurants and bars you are bound to find one that suits your taste.

One of my best Thai meals on the island was taken at a simple, bamboo hut on Bang Tao Beach just in front of Laguna Phuket: a fantastic contrast to the neighboring 4 and 5 star luxury hotels.

The greatest collection of restaurants and bars is of course at Patong Beach where you really are spoilt for choice. On our last visit to Phuket, after a stroll along the beachside road (Thawiwong Road), with its street hawkers, we stopped at one of the many restaurants facing the beach. I had my favorite dish, Thai Green Curry – delicious.

If you are in the mood for Italian food you might try La Gritta at the Amari Coral Beach, at the southern end of Patong Bay. Generally, I prefer not to recommend any particular restaurants because you might not like the same as me and anyway standards can change very quickly. However this restaurant has delivered consistently good standards for a number of years.

Another restaurant which I can recommend with some confidence is The Boathouse Wine and Grill at Mom Tri’s Boathouse on Kata Beach. It is expensive but you will find some fine Thai and French gourmet dining there, and reportedly the best wine cellar on Phuket.

If you enjoy seafood, the restaurants at Rawai in the south of the island are well worth exploring.

By the way I have deliberately not said much about Phuket bars because the majority are gogo bars and not for the family market. Most of these bars are in Patong with Bang La Road, and the surrounding area, at the heart of the island’s nightlife.

You can be sure then that if you are planning a visit to Phuket, restaurants and bars are in good supply in all the major tourist areas.
