My Best of Thailand Hotels
As you might guess, I am a huge fan of the country so for me Thailand hotels are among the best in the region. If you know Phuket I am sure you will have visited, or will visit, the island more than once. But I also know from experience that people like to stay in more than one place when they are on vacation. So let me give you a quick round-up of my favourite high-end hotels throughout Thailand, starting in the north.

Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai Around 30 minutes north of the city, set amidst a rice-terrace landscape and surrounded by hills this is an absolutely fantastic place to chill out. (See picture above).Peninsula Bangkok There are so many excellent hotels in Bangkok so it was difficult to focus on just one. I have chosen this simply because it has a different location. It is on the opposite side of the Chao Phyra river to the city and all rooms have a river view. Le Meridien Baan Taling Ngam On the west coast of Ko Samui, set high on a hill overlooking the ocean in isolated splendour. Santiburi Resort On the north coast of Ko Samui, deluxe rooms and villas set around a large garden leading on to a white sandy beach. Hyatt Regency Hua Hin Just 3 hours drive from Bangkok, in my opinion, this is one of the top hotels in this Royal resort. The Champion Family had a fantastic holiday there in 2006! Royal Cliff Beach Resort Across the Gulf of Thailand from Hua Hin in the well-established resort of Pattaya, this hotel has become a destination in itself. It is enormous and really not the place I would choose for a relaxing holiday but I know it has a very loyal following. The Sarojin Run by a husband and wife team in Khao Lak, just north of Phuket, this independent hotel is a gem. It is set on a secluded headland close to mangrove forest, right on the edge of the Andaman Sea. Originally due to open at the time of the
Tsunami
, with the help of their dedicated team, the owners soon had it up and running and it is now established firmly amongst the best of Thailand hotels. Le Meridien Khao Lak Also set on the Andaman Sea with a fabulous white sandy beach. This hotel suffered very badly from the
Tsunami
but again, thanks to a determined effort, it too has been restored to its former glory. Pimalai Bay Resort and Spa On the island of Ko Lanta in Krabi province, this resort has an enviable position at the southern end of the island overlooking a picture-postcard beach. I hope this quick tour has helped you think about which other Thailand hotels you could visit. Naturally there are a lot more but these are the ones that particularly stand out for me at the high-end.
